Shaping a Puppy to Down: 14 Week Old Belief

저는 14주 된 강아지에게 엎드려 자세를 셰이핑(shaping) 하려고 건물로 향하고 있습니다. 같이 가실래요? 가시죠. 저는 훈련할 때 음식 유도(food lures)를 사용하지 않기로 했습니다. 그래서 일반적인 셰이핑 세션이 어떤 모습인지 공유하면 재밌을 것 같았습니다. 장난감으로 관계 쌓기부터 시작했어요. 강아지는 자기 선택이라는 걸 이해하기 때문에 장난감을 테이블 밑으로 던져줍니다. 그럼 강아지는 그걸 찾으러 가지 않죠. 그래서 이제 제가 얻는 행동을 강화하는 것뿐입니다. 저는 클리커를 사용해 최종 행동의 한 조각을 강화할 겁니다. 강아지가 꼭 최종 행동을 해야 하는 건 아닙니다. 그래서 사실 엎드린 자세를 스스로 제안한 적은 거의 없어요. 제 테리어와 테리어 믹스견들에게서 이런 모습을 많이 봅니다. 엎드리는 건 기본 행동이 아니거든요. 그래서 저는 클리커를 사용해 그 행동의 아주 작은 부분이라도 포착합니다. 그러고 나서 계속 간식을 줍니다. 이 시기에 제 모든 강아지가 가진 한 가지 좋은 점은 크레이트 게임을 통해, 릴리스 워드(release word)를 이해한다는 것입니다. 그래서 제가 좋아하는 방식대로 이 모든 행동 과정에 지속 시간이 자연스럽게 포함됩니다. 덕분에 강아지는 릴리스 신호를 받을 때까지 자세를 유지해야 한다는 것을 즉시 이해합니다. 그리고 저는 종종 이 세션을 중간중간 장난감으로 노는 짧은 시간으로 나눕니다. 보시다시피 강아지는 제가 릴리스 큐(release cue)를 주기 전까지는 움직일 생각을 하지 않습니다. 제가 간식을 던져주며 '찾아'라고 하거나 '가'라고 말하는 식이죠. 이제 더 높은 테이블에서 시작합니다. 테이블 위에서 제가 강아지보다 낮게 위치하면, 강아지가 엎드리는 자세를 취할 확률이 더 높기 때문이죠. 그런 다음 조금 더 낮은, 제 키 정도 높이의 클라임 테이블(climb table)로 바꿉니다. 마지막으로 키토 보드(keto board)로 옮겨갑니다. 이건 어렵거든요. 정말 똑똑하네요. 정말 똑똑해요. 정말 똑똑하네요. 정말 똑똑해. 그래서 내가 원하는 자세인 큐 탐색(cue search)을 위해 간식을 많이 주고, 그다음엔 먹이를 던져줘서 강아지가 다시 준비하고 얼마나 똑똑한지 보여줄 수 있게 해요. 목표한 자세를 이해함으로써 말이죠. 그래서 이 전체 세션은 중간에 세 번의 놀이 휴식을 포함해 약 12분 정도 걸렸어요. 보시다시피 저는 아주 일찍 리드줄을 풀러 줬어요. 그리고 마지막에는 장난감을 가지고 재미있는 놀이를 하며 끝냈죠. 좋아. 앉아. 잘했어. 하나, 둘, 셋. 그만. 좋아. 세 가지 높이의 테이블을 사용하면 그 행동을 즉시 일반화할 수 있게 해줘요. 강아지가 스스로 선택할 수 있다는 것을 이해하고, 음식과 장난감이라는 보상의 우선순위를 알며, 해제 신호를 이해하게 되면, 강아지를 훈련해서 무엇을 할 수 있게 되는지 매번 놀라울 따름이에요. 댓글 남겨주세요. 제가 강아지에게 훈련했으면 하는 다른 것이 있다면 알려주세요. 너 뭐 하고 있니?
I'm heading over to the building to shape my 14 week old puppy to down. You want to join me? Let's go. I choose not to use food lures in my training. So I thought it would be fun to share what a typical shaping session looks like. I started off with relationship building with a toy, throw the toy under the table because the puppy understands it's your choice. She doesn't go looking. And so now it's just reinforcing what I get. I'll use a clicker to reinforce a slice of the final behavior. She doesn't have to do the final behavior. So she's really not ever offered a down position. I find this with a lot of my terrier and terrier crosses. Down is not a default behavior. And so I use a clicker to isolate any slice of the behavior. And then I'll just continuously feed. The one nice thing that all of my puppies have by this point is through crate games, they understand a release word. So duration gets built into any of these behaviors as a part of the process, which I love. So she immediately understands to hold position until she gets a release. And frequently I break up this session with little play sessions with a toy. So you can see there's no thought from her to release until I give her a release cue, which could be search if I throw a cookie or break. Now, I start on a taller table because with me being lower than her on the table, she's more likely to offer a down. And then I switch over to a climb table, which is a little bit lower, about my height. And then finally I go to a keto board. This is difficult. So smart. So smart. So smart. So smart. So lots of cookies for the position I want, the cue search, and then I throw the food away so that she can reload and show me how brilliant she is by understanding the targeted position. So this entire session was about 12 minutes with three play breaks in between. And you can see that I took her leash off really early. And we end with some fun games with the toy. Okay. Sit. Nice. One, two, three. Break. Okay. Three height tables allows me to generalize that behavior immediately. Puppy who understands it's your choice, has hierarchy of reinforcement, both food and toys, understands her release cues, never ceases to amaze me what you can train a puppy to do.
