And I like the description that you said in our last live max That if you look at the time it takes to do a one day seminar You have to wait for all the other dogs turns You have to um, you know write down little bits of information And then cumulatively um, it really it's it's stretching out a Really a chunk of information stretched out over eight hours But when there's nobody interrupting when there's nobody else that you that is being taught to We can deliver all of this in in very concise form for you And you get to watch and re-watch it as much as you want Yeah, like we talked about with How often you are limited with time when you teach a seminar and and very often I feel like you quite fast have to give your feedback And then quite fast have to explain how to develop a skill for example And you don't really have the time to go deep into details and what someone said in the comments About splitting skills into small small pieces I think that's also about planning your training like we're going to talk about today um And that we can actually help you and guide you how to split a skill into small pieces And gradually build a skill back up for example So it's not always we have that time when we teach a one-to-one seminar So I I mean the virtual seminar is my personal favorite of the new segments because It's really what you want to have the time to do when you teach a one-to-one seminar But now we have the time to do it online and the best thing about also having it online is that you can go back and watch it whenever you want Yes, exactly Yeah, and then we have the core strategies which is what max explained about um Having our own course either designed by us or by a judge or um someone out in the agility world We walk it we analyze it we run it we try different options So that one is also really cool And then we have But it's not only running the sequence We will always try to make sure that there will be an option if you are not usain bold Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, and also like in there'll be some challenges that are made for people who want to do international um skills, but they'll also be the skills that you can use if you are a akc competitor that Just wants to get your dog out working equipment So, you know, you can pick any part of that course that's going to work for you to brush up improve your skills You're going to every one will have something new that you can go. Okay. My dog didn't do that. So Yeah, exactly So also with the gelatination it's easier to like navigate into The things that you want to train if you for example want to focus on your weaves for a while

Or you want to focus on your contacts or you want to focus on course running you're preparing for a big event It's yeah, then you can go to that specific theme and you can work on that While for example the handling 360 that is a classroom where you work from start to finish compared so We have every month every monday in agility nation you get a new piece of a a video and Downloadable pdf and so the first monday is that virtual seminar and then the second monday is what's called the toolbox because we're always Tinkering with skills. So it's just a quick little video that you can improve a skill And then the third monday is where we have course strategies, which we just we just spoke about And then the fifth monday you guys help me out. What's the fifth or the fourth monday? Do you for the first thing? Yes That is connected to the course strategies the month after so we will go deeper into a skill Where we talk about the skill we show how we train the skill and then in course strategies the next month That skill will be included in that so we're always helping you by saying you're gonna if you walk this course You're going to be overwhelmed by oh my dog can't do that But guess what the month before you get this little thing in skill testing where we show you how we break it down And then you can practice it for a week or two and then comes out the next month's course strategy and then Every once in a while there's five mondays in a month and just like we're doing right now Sometimes it'll be two of us. Sometimes it'll be three of us. Sometimes we one of us. Not because we're not going to coach you at some point that because you will be able to Look at your own video and go. Oh, I got this like you are you are going to improve your skills so fast Um, but there's no limit to how much how many videos you can upload If you're training, um, you you ask a question We have a format that because we're trying to get you to be a better coach We have a format of how you submit that video and um, we ask you to look at the video yourself What do you see happening? What would be your next step and even if you don't join our programs write this down? What do you see happening in the video? What would be your next step in your training and then you post that and our coaches will say yeah Here's where you you you picked it up, but here's where you might have missed something And so we help you be a better observer of your own dog training. So absolutely there'll be video feedback And also what I really like is that nowadays in many online programs you sign up with your dog And you work on maybe a few months with that dog and here you sign up So it's not connected to a dog in any way But if you want to submit videos from one dog And then the next week you want to submit a video from the other dog Doesn't really matter. We're there to help Any of the dogs. So this one is a puppy pyramid and this is like on um from seven weeks 14 weeks every layer is What I do with my puppies as they grow up for the first year all the way up to um, we get to doing actual agility skills So prep school is a classroom that will probably take you depending on Um, how great your skills are you might be coming into handling 360 and your dog's got a great retrieve a great recall They have focus for work. They don't get distracted. You're gonna breeze through prep school We still encourage you to go through all of the lessons then you're going to get into the next classroom So there's six classrooms you progress through and right now Um, the three of us are planning to completely redo all of those classrooms So we are having strategy sessions Over the next six months and we're going to be getting together and shooting all of those videos starting in january So handling 360 it's not a month by month membership. Okay, so some questions um This one Do you recommend to wait to start with the lessons in h360 until you've made the new stuff? So christine the lessons that are in there now Are probably not going to change that much in the foundation level because good dog training is good dog training And so they are there is nothing my handling 360 students have learned that i've said. Oh, we have to stop all that We don't do that So I would say the fourth classroom is the only one that I really um, and it's called triple double because There are curved tunnels in that fourth classroom and we just don't see that in agility anymore But the foundation is the foundation and guess what if you are joining this week

It will take you until We roll out the new stuff before you even finish that those first three classrooms The first three classrooms won't all the lessons won't be rolled out until February of next year and that's when we're going to have the new stuff for you so So and that was a coincidence. And then kim's given me some other questions Actually, you covered most of them by describing how um, how all of the situations look like how does agility work? How does handling 360 work? um That was mainly mainly what people were thinking Um, also I had some questions about the currency. It's going to be us dollars What that was um something that people asked? um, and then um, about the courses one person asked um, like on which size of field or like, uh, how many obstacles and um, I think What we're all trying to do is we want to have courses that you um, you can improve on So we will give you the small stuff that we give you like the toolbox things the small skills That will help you in the course strategies So if you for example set up a full course and you might not have these 12 jumps and four tunnels and whatever Um, I don't think it's a problem because you can pick The element that you want and build what you can and then if you decide come on it's saturday. I want to rent uh an agility field Then you can go and you can build it maybe with some friends and then you can Have a party training it so I think there will even in the core strategies when we build it on for example a competition field um You will have even if you pick half of it

You will find so much to do in there. Exactly exactly question any idea when reshooting when will be done It will never be done because agility is not a static sport It's not like it's ever changing So we will constantly be adding to it. Um, so that's the really cool thing the so like I said You have that's why we have given you 15 months Is you can join the information that's in there? is Exactly the information that i've trained all of my dogs in in agility. So It's not like you don't have anything you've got really good dog training information there. Um, and Hand in hand with there is a question. Will you reopen registration in the spring? My current dog is 12 and i'm planning a new puppy. So We don't have a plan, but i'm sure we will open registration in the spring But there's a couple things you should know number one We're training you when you get really good at the understanding of the material is when you can train your dog the best The way most people go through the programs is they go through it when they have a dog But the best way to go through the program is in advance of getting a dog Because then you get an understanding without trying to get that understanding with a new puppy in front of you Um, so that's number one number two thing is we know for sure that the prices of agility nation and handling 360 will be going up in the new year so When you join this week your prices will never be raised You are locked in for as long as you are a member of good standing. So, um, it I would encourage you if it works out for you. I would encourage you to join us this week Um, okay. Do you have any other any more? I have some more How much time heading 360 will need daily or weekly to work out properly? So I will just ask answer that a little bit in the beginning so I would say that Um every day you will interact with your dog So i'm not saying that you have to train obstacles or have to train skills like related to agility On a daily basis or even sometimes you might want to give them a week break of the equipment or whatever For sure it's necessary But interacting with your dog Um training your dog also in daily life also using um, you know positive reinforcement in daily life will will help you so much in your agility journey and there's Sorry, spending time with your dog spending quality time with your dog Training the dog can mean different things for some people it might mean agility training, but to us it means so much more We want to help you establish Behaviors that when you're out walking in the woods

There's your there's actually things you are doing that's helping to build a better team work with your agility dog. So um The little the little foundation games just become A part of the way you live with your dog. They're just fun fun ways to to to develop a relationship with your dog Yeah, and I think it also depends like what um Um, what you're focusing on like from handling 360 for example if you're Doing the small foundation stuff in the beginning or later if you're doing sequencing of course, it's different time invested in that Um, but we always recommend Like small things often rather than training a lot in one big portion Um, so it's not that much time if you like divide it into Your daily routine, you know that is kind of um traditional education where you go to an hour-long dog training class and you sit there and you like Get all this information and then you go away for a week and this is Is this is the best way for you to learn because you can there? There are short videos that you can learn at your pace and you can learn at your time So I personally this morning was up at 3 30 most of the time i'm up between 4 30 and 5 30 my Co-partners here are probably maybe staying awake till 3 30 more likely than being up at 3 30 So each of us have a time when we feel the most lit up That's the time you should be training your dog And so it's not on a schedule It's on your schedule and that's why Training and like as max and enya said short little bursts that you can kind of Um schedule into your day So, you know when you get up for work in the morning, you've got to let your dog out Um and that if you're going to feed them you could take a little bit of their breakfast and do some training games that will help contribute to um the dog understanding for the future And so it's just a little thing that keep building and building and helping that dog grow and so um Before you know it You've got so many skills like today. I was running my 14 month old Prop puppy profit in this workshop and of course he was the youngest Thank you. He was the youngest puppy there uh youngest dog there um There were dogs that were four years old several dogs that were four years old very experienced master level agility dogs and He rarely made mistakes on the sequences that these dogs international sequences and people have asked me Oh, wow, you must have been doing agility for so long with him No, we have these foundation games that we play away from agility Yeah And that means when they get to see obstacles they haven't made all these mistakes And associate it with agility equipment

They don't know mistakes and that's what we want you guys to have with your dogs Yeah, and I think also you mentioned that the time and the mentioned puppy class um I think not only the hours where you're most comfortable to to train your dog or learn but also in an environment where Both you but mostly maybe your young dog is open to learning because I think sometimes in in a puppy class with Like six other puppies in a messy environment is not necessarily the best environment for a puppy to learn So maybe in your house in your living room in a safe environment is a better place for the puppy to start learning those skills So when you go to class the dog is already Comfortable in So true, you know, I have had Four dogs that are outside of the norm if you take the dog that learns best in a classroom It's a very small slot slice of the population And then I had a dog decaf who I tried to take to a class who was afraid of everything and this I never tried to take her to a class as a puppy because she was too afraid And those dogs they would get into the environment and they would not like they wouldn't even eat a cookie So then like people would say old, you know with decaf oh terriers they're harder to learn blah blah blah And then my on the other end was my dog buzz who I went to a first uh puppy Agility class and when he got to go in the room where the equipment was Then he was like crazy man So then the next week he was screaming and barking as we were in the parking lot trying to get into the classroom I had to spend the next six weeks outside in the parking lot Because he was too wild and crazy and barking and screaming because he just wanted to play the games so with the with dogs that are like the the small percentage of dogs that Aren't don't get too worried or distracted or don't get too excited that small percentage of dogs They can possibly learn in a classroom, but they would learn so much better at home But for sure any one of you that has a dog that has a challenge The best way for them to learn is in a quiet environment and then like and you said then you go to class and you show off Look look at my dog Exactly We have one person asking about time and you can put it in as much or as little as you want Of course the more you do the faster you will learn Yeah, that's exactly how it works like working your on your pace but Yeah, so as much or as little as time you want to invest We had a young woman who Started in our recolors program and then joined handling 360

She had two children under the age of six so she was only able to work in in in actually doing the games three days a week When the kids had things scheduled and so it took her a lot longer to go through the program But she still ended up with great agility dogs. So as long as you know that It's okay to not be in a hurry because you have a busy life and you can be patient As long as you're just playing a few little games throughout the day and maybe Two or three days a week you have more time to focus longer sessions then it's going to work And obviously if you have more time every day then you will advance at a faster at a faster rate for sure for sure Okay, um So why don't we do we have any? Here's a question Will there be lessons with different variations of handlers mechanics mechanic options for the same move sequences? Or will you harmonize handler mechanics as I guess you might? So, um, that's a really really good question So we do have breakdowns for if your dog is more food driven versus a dog that's more um toy driven Um, we will do a little bit of both of those and also like we've had handlers who have been in Um electric scooters or electric wheelchairs that have gone through handling 360 and what they will do Is they will post to the community because we've had so many people who've gone through In their place and they will say i'm trying to do this How do I get my dog to do this and then the community will all will all say? Oh, yeah, well guess what i'm actually working I'm working at the highest level of agility with my dog in my electric wheelchair and this is what it looks like so um Definitely there'll be people that have different challenges and that's where collectively there's going to be some somebody or one of our coaches Definitely that can guide you to where that the resource is Um Yeah, but if you mean um because I think the question could also mean it a little bit differently We don't know exactly how how she meant it. I think because I understood it this way that maybe um she was questioning if um We will show only options Of how we would run it or if there's also an option if you're maybe not a handler because we we have differences in our handling the three of us um for sure for sure so, um There's 40 years age difference between us of course we're going to be different handling abilities Yeah, uh, so the thing is that there will be it will be something in there for sure that will um There's an option if you're a runner or if you're not a runner Definitely I remember the last core strategies that we filmed isn't really it's not out yet. It's coming but

We did all like okay. Can we can we just crazy send here on a distance? Can we just crazy here here on a distance like there will always be? As many different options as we can try it and even if like some of our styles would be running with the dog and um Using our lots of running and handling We of course always want to improve our skills and our dog skills So we would always also test like the not running option So there's definitely something for everyone and the funny thing is that enya and max Obviously are great runners much much better than me But their distance skills are every bit as good as mine or better like that that It isn't like you can't learn distance skills from accident. Yeah They are great dog trainers. So they recognize the importance of giving a dog confidence of learning how to power away on their own so it's super important for all of us and if I could be in places I would but You know you just could so carolyn mcintyre Says if you're on the fence jump in you never get This content in a class having trained with all three. This is really a game changer love the new agility nation So obviously carolyn is in our programs and uh, thank you for that carolyn the love the purple hearts of course purple hearts So here we go Living in the middle of nowhere saskatchewan. That's a big big place nowhere saskatchewan I've driven through it for hours and hours and hours. I feel like this is the perfect answer to do agility with my sheltie pup Is there a certain amount of space and or equipment? I need that? There's no local places to train so first of all karen both and yet and max compete with shelties They also compete with border collies, but they compete with shelties. So definitely um You're in the right spot and also like this is what I thought of when I did the first online classes Now I realize everybody no matter where they you live couldn't can benefit by training at home But yes, this is perfect and the amount of space for the first three classrooms. You really don't need Um a ton of space. So how much how much space well? The first two classrooms really you can do it in any bedroom and you don't need that much room Obviously, we want you to get moving early We don't like this is what I see a lot of people do because Some of these agility skills you can do standing still But we need the dog to see you moving so You know it could be moving in a circle around as the dogs Doing learning the skill but that's super important that eventually you've got to get more You've got to get emotion because the dog is going to need to see that

So it might be like when you guys are probably the same before I lived at a place where I could set up my jumps in my backyard Every week probably two times a week. I would take my jumps to the park And I would take all my dogs. They'd lie down I was you know, the neighborhood kids just thought it was great. They'd sit on a hill and just watch me train I had six jumps I would take them to the park and I would just train that was you know And I made all those jumps myself So that's where I started. I won my first u.s national championship And I didn't own I didn't own I had a backyard about the sides of this room And I did all of my training in that backyard and I trained on stairs in my house I trained on things that weren't agility equipment because I didn't own an a-frame a dog walk I had some stick-in-the-ground weepholes and my six jumps I made myself So absolutely You can't Let I I don't have equipment stand in your way Definitely to start. Um, well the prep school you you need virtually nothing And then I think the next classroom, um, either a garbage can or cone Tug toys dog treats, you know, there really is not much equipment required And home and I also know everything about not having like the access to Training fields. I mean living up here in Swedish Lapland and I mean I've been here for seven years and we've had an indoor place now for for one year So for six years with eight months of winter Um, I I had to learn how to use my living room and how to use my uh bedroom and basically now every room in this house is a dog training room, but um Yeah, it's it's there's so much you can do Off equipment. There's so much you can do just in your living room And there's yeah, I remember a video of one of our students in japan in handling 360. She was She was retired She learned how to drive a backhoe And a and she rented a backhoe to excavate Her a place on her property to make an agility field. It was hysterical. She made all her own equipment She learned she bought a power drill. She learned how to do all this Because she was really motivated to teach agility to her dogs. It was such a great story That's dedication It's like somebody driving 11 hours for an agility lesson. It's crazy. Karen has six jumps in a tunnel in her yard. So there you go That's that that's the that's what happens when you start small with one jump um This is a great question And I think we all three of us have the same answer because all three of us I haven't run my a mini dog in a while but yeah You guys can answer it You want to start? I can say my yeah, um

Do you change any of your handling for the smaller dogs? I mean um It doesn't matter what dog I run. I want to make sure that they are As wide in their education as they can be So just because I run my smaller dogs doesn't mean that i'm not going to test their independence It doesn't mean that i'm not gonna build the skills required Maybe I will make different options in competitions. But speaking of training and building the skills I mean We've talked about this a lot. I love when my shelters have the same skills as my border colleagues I mean I want my shelters to show that this is not something that only border colleagues can do so I'm not Like running everywhere with my shelters. I want them to have skills and I know that max is the same and I mean Yeah And for me in north america, we don't have I don't know about in europe But we don't have different courses For small dogs than big dogs We only have the tryouts for tryouts. We do have it But also it's separate weekends in germany, but it's a little different but the normal competitions Usually have the same course perfect and so for me it was always Um, my goal was always with my little, uh, jack russell terrier who who was like four kilograms Um, I wanted to beat all the border collies and most of the time I did Right, so the skills if you put in the time and you don't treat them like a little dog You just say you know what? We're gonna learn distance work. We're gonna we're gonna learn to power places Then your dogs will respond Yeah, I think in the the difference that I see in training the smaller dogs to have the same skills is since they are just smaller Um The pictures that they see or the meters that they have to make the steps they have to make Until they are at the point might take a little bit longer to achieve that Right, but it's definitely possible. You just have to put in the work Absolutely. Yep. Absolutely. Here's another really good question. Um, where did it go? Because I never thought of this and I just want to make sure here. This is it Can I ask if these offers are the still still available when I join handling 360 with monthly installments? Yeah, that's a good one Um, okay another question do you have i'm assuming the three of us do we have the same cues System wise not words and body movements if not how will you teach the different systems? We all have different cues um, but not because not things that are um Philosophically different or systematically different I might have more verbal cues because of how far behind I can get with my dogs um, I don't believe there's anything body wise. Do you guys think there's anything we do with physical cues different? No, I think um one thing that Is just adding a little bit to your recent sentence is I think we all agree on like a base a necessary base of cues and then Two individual needs we might pick More to cover more situations if you're not that fast of a runner or You know, um, yeah, I think the question is And not it says system wise not word wise. Yeah Or movement so it's basically our handling system and in that I don't think we separate at all Which is crazy because we're from three different countries and when we trained our foundation We didn't work together or even know each other. We've had people with no agility background have such great success um sometimes even better than people who come in with The idea that they already know agility so Yeah, so that's a little bit of a warning to all of you If you're joining and you already have some success in agility adopt a beginner's mindset like carrie pretend you know nothing because you will excel in the program Okay, let's talk kim's still going to take questions Um, let's talk about our planning planning our training Okay, so one of you, uh, i'll let i'll let any of you Actually, i'm going to show a little graphic first because I think I showed this at the very very beginning uh on week um on Masterclass lesson number one so You have oh look at it's kind of magical with all of us in here now So There is a timeline for all of us of where we are today So max and enya and myself So I have the youngest dog of the three of us and technically and yet kind of does too because her husband has a litter Make to profit But even I have a four-year-old dog So where I am today and I I love to look at where I was last month Have my skills improved and if not What can I do to make the next month better? Look where I was six months ago have my skills improved now for some of you Maybe you've had life circumstances and you haven't been able to do much in the last month But it also may be that you just got in a rut And so instead of coming up with dog training plans

You were doing some doom scrolling on your phone because you just didn't know where to start So I want you to be honest where you are today where you were last month and six months ago And what we're talking about now the three of us is how do we plan? Where we are today where we want to be a month and beyond a year I like to plan out a year in advance Okay, so let's go around the horn here We're each going to talk about how we plan what we do with our dogs for training Yeah, I think it's exactly what you showed like First of all making a training plan is I mean you can't really progress without it because it helps you avoid running in circles or getting stuck in your training So first of all, I mean you need a training plan And I think like we saw on that Little thing that you had down there that it all Like the first thing you need is a goal Like the destination Where do you want? What do you want to reach? Where do you want to go? So I think that's like the first thing that you need And I think when you know exactly where you want to be And when you know where you want to be you can start planning from there And I think goal setting in general is quite difficult What I always try to think when setting my goals And I had to learn from my own mistakes Is that when I set a goal I try to set a goal that is Based on performance and not on results That's very important Yes So important Yes So you can have goals as I mean I think the goal needs to be very clear So it's not like my goal is I want to get better Because I think that's like Too big Yes, exactly So it needs to be narrowed down to like Okay, what do I want to achieve? Or it could be anything from like improving a skill To performing in competition So I can share an example what I did a mistake It was it was connected to competition for me It was with my terrier For those of you who follow the master class Knew that we all started with terriers And when I competed with my terrier I remember when we moved up to grade three Which is the highest grade in FCI I set a goal for that year That one of my goals was that I wanted to win A grade three run with my terrier And I competed all year, 12 months And we didn't win a grade three run We did our best performance was the second place Out of lots of dogs And it was a really good run But I didn't win So I didn't reach my goal And the year after I realized that my goal cannot be Based on What other people can affect Because whether I win a grade three Other people could actually do something about that I could run off my life But someone else could still put me down to second place

So the next year I decided that I want to run Five clean runs in grade three That was only me That can affect if I reach that goal or not Awesome And I did run multiple clean runs And I actually won five grade three runs that year Woooo Yeah So that's when I learned that Okay, regardless if I have a training goal Or a competition goal It needs to be focused on like a performance Of course that could lead to a result But if I set a result focused goal That someone else can affect It's going to be really difficult for me to reach that goal So I think it all starts with the goal And I think if you don't have a clear view of what your goal is It's really difficult to plan your training So true So true And I think that's where people get really frustrated Is when they set outcome goals Yes When they say I want to win Or I want to beat Or I want to Because that's outside of our control And you will learn to be frustrated And you will learn to You'll lose your passion for agility Because I like looking back I did so many good runs that year with my terrier But I didn't win And my goal was to win And it was I think it's I think many people set that type of goal And it leads to disappointment So yeah Goals first of all And it could be small or big goals But it needs to be a clear goal That's what I always try to think A clear goal What do I want to achieve? What's my destination? Where do I want to be? And then start planning it from there I think second step would be how And the how I mentioned this quote in our first master class Is that we never rise to the level of our goals Because then everybody would be a world champion Yeah We don't rise to the level of our goals We fall to the level of our systems And so that's why it's important that you consider What is your system that gets you to that performance goal? And that's really what we are encouraging you to do today Is join the systems that we have spent tens of thousands of hours to figure out Yeah Because it's the systems that are in place that help you get to those goals So but really important that you understand the difference between an outcome goal That is based on things that you can't control And simple things like Having a goal of never taking your eyes off your dog in the ring Like that's something you can control And that will eventually lead to better results and agility Okay Max So first I have a different way of planning my training for my younger dogs or for my experienced dogs I think we all agree on that Yes So what I usually do is I have But I figured out that works for me the best If I have one detailed big goal for this one dog in that like specific time frame

And then I have a few goals in between small steps, small goals that I have to achieve first So it might be something like I want my goal is my dog should have this independent skill But to get there there's five goals that need to be reached So for example with a young dog if I'm teaching a skill that's kind of how I look at it This is what I need to do before These are the goals that are set in between Because then you will have fun making progress Because you're already reaching your goals, the small ones And then get to your bigger goal And once you have that you set a new one And then it's super good what you said Anja with clarifying your goal Because I think the big goal should be like as detailed as possible And the small goals could be like leaning in the direction But they don't have to be as detailed I would say for me personally But the more detailed the better probably Yeah, if I'm planning my training for my more experienced dogs It depends a little bit of the season at the moment Because for example if we are in the end of the year or beginning of the new year In my mind it's already tryouts So my personal goal is I want to attend tryouts And I want to do as well and as good as we can on tryouts So that's my personal goal I want to be in a mindset that I can deliver on tryouts Some stuff can always happen There can be a bar or whatever But I want to perform as good as possible at that event But considering my dogs in these situations in the months before tryouts I'm always looking, analyzing, okay, this needs improvement This is very good, I just need to keep that skill as good as possible And the closer I reach it, the less I focus on the stuff that's not working And the more I focus on the stuff that's working But I will have it in my mind That's part of my training plan Is I have in mind what is really bomb proof and what is not And then I can support a little bit more On the stuff that the dogs maybe can't do As confident as the other things But with good training it's like maybe one thing per course that you have to really perform So that's like before these tryout situations For example, right now, I have Remix who attended European Open and won it And she didn't qualify for World Championships Ooh, Remix! She didn't qualify for World Championships So my training plan for her now switched completely So now it's like, okay, just some small stuff, some easy things Some, you know, a little bit more going to swim with her and stuff like this And then actually course running, and if we do course running, we do stuff that maybe work on small skills

That we want to improve and should use that a little bit more That's her plan at the moment While Make and Style, who are running AWC in a few weeks They are now in this stage where I'm focusing on what we can do And growing confidence in that That is so important and it's something that I'm like, okay, we got to talk about that And so, so often as people get closer to a big event They go, they start like, oh, panicking Oh, I don't, I don't know how to do like this move as well as And then they start trying to teach new things Yeah And then they lose their confidence in their dogs And their dogs are not at their best So as you are going to your first trial maybe, or as you're going to an important event The last few weeks shouldn't be about trying the hardest stuff your dog's ever seen Yeah It should be about growing confidence as a team and reversing excellence Definitely, I also loved Max, what you said about the, like the big goal and then the small goals leading up to it Because I think it's so easy to get lost in if you have a goal, it's like, okay, but how do I get there? And personally, I think if you have a big goal, I mean, you need your small goals to get there And as you said, that makes it fun along the way I personally, like what I do for myself, I celebrate every small goal that I reach Yeah So important I think it's super important It could be treating myself with something that I have wanted for a long time It could be like anything, but just celebrate that you've actually accomplished that Like one small step towards your goal Yeah Because I think people set small goals and then they are not satisfied until they reach the finished goal So, a little bit more like training wise, like what Max said, I agree with, absolutely agree with everything And I think what you said about now, I mean, we both have two dogs that will run AWC in a few weeks And as you both mentioned, like now is not the time when we are trying to like fix the things that they cannot do It's not the time when we try to teach them new things It's also not for me the time when I try to like panically force them through 22 numbers of the AWC courses, like that's not the time for it Now is the time to build confidence Now is the time to both show them, but also like you said Susan, myself, like my own confidence going into that thing Yeah Yeah So, but in a time period where maybe you would be now with Max with Remix Yeah I love when I can have a period of time of a few months where I can go deeper into like smaller skills I try to track everything throughout the competition season that hasn't worked for my dogs

And as we talked about in the master class, it doesn't necessarily have to be that the skill is not working It could be a certain picture that I want them to see because they couldn't do that picture in a competition, for example And then I try to always find like I make lists I think you should always have everything on paper or on your phone But I personally always recommend writing it down I put post-its in my house and stuff like that And then making like small lists of What is my training goal? How many steps do I need to get there? And planning exercises for those steps so I know how to get there And also prioritizing what skills do I need first? Because I don't necessarily I can't necessarily go in and train a certain thing if there's something Causing that it that skill is missing So for example, we talked about the focus forward at the master class and maybe you cannot Focus on that skill before you have good foundations of it's your choice So also prioritizing where where you start and also go deeper into the skill understanding Um, is there something else missing here? And I think also here coming into our online online programs is this is how we can help you understand Actually, what what do you think now? That's not the case But try this strengthen this skill and then we can work on that for example So important um for me, um I always give my competition dogs eight weeks of no agility and that generally is after um the big event um in november so europe or us open um or it could be after the world championships, which i'm not going to this year So but it so it'll be the us open and then I want them we have our trials in march So I want them to be at their best at the end of march So I will try to work that that we are back ready to go in january Um, so sometimes I you know that that the if I get if I get it right Um, and sometimes if a dog has been competing for a long time or did a lot of big events that year I might give them even more time off than that Um, but my like profit of course he's never competed and so it's it's always about Um all of the skills so he's 14 months old And you know, he doesn't have weed poles. He doesn't have a seaside doesn't have a dog walk He doesn't have an a-frame and so I don't like obsessive like oh i've got to get all these things now I just train things that will help grow his confidence in what he's doing So with just a little a couple of games that will help our seesaw and then maybe we'll do some running contact training Um, you know for a couple of weeks every day for a couple of weeks, but then we'll give them a break

And then we'll bring it back and so it's always it like and you said keeping track. I have a journal um, my journals downstairs if you would um running grab that that would be awesome It's downstairs where we were taking notes with it at the seminar. So similar to that. Um, I do Like to put things on a computer, but but I love to write things down and we have in I believe we have this in handling 360 if we don't we'll get it in there um stickers That you can celebrate and put stickers in your journal when you've achieved milestones when you've got Something that you're working towards and so I have this little graphic if if you think about all of the skills We need to train when we get our puppy and it can be overwhelming. So this is just an example of Some of the foundation games And so you've got them scattered all over and it's like well, how where what do I'm gonna? I'm gonna do a little bit of this but that's where things like the uh, the puppy pyramid I know that i'm not going to take tunnels that are up here When I don't have a retrieve or I don't have a recall I don't know what the breeder did but he came to me and like to grab toys and run in the opposite direction like run mine did that too What can I tell you can I tell you that both parents did it natural with eight weeks? So the retrieve Yeah, yeah, well, uh, i'm sorry. I have That the litter mates also did the same thing So that was my focus my focus as soon as profit came home um Was there is no more reason to think of anything else because a toy is so important to me in my training So yes, we trained some hand targets and some fun shaping because I want to build a relationship with him but The main focus always came back to creating a great retrieve and it took one week to have like an amazing Instead of him running off and playing keep away every time he had a toy It was boom boom bring it back bring it back bring it back. That was the joy So you decide we talked about the domino behavior So when you have a puppy, what is the domino? and recalls and Retrieves those are the two big dominoes for me that I always come back to and then Agility is about building value for things away for you and the dog coming back to you So, you know, there's there's all these foundational layers when i've got a young dog And I have to balance that with my competition dog and not lose sight of I need to keep training and growing your confidence and skills so um, it is Taking the time to celebrate The the successes that you've achieved and I like to put little videos together and put them on social media

To say, you know, look at the puppy. Look what we can do now Um, but also I go into my journal and I and I put stickers in just to say Yeah, you've done this or i'll put stickers that say Come back to this because it's not finished. Yeah, so um having a plan having setting the goals and Being very specific about what your dream is. You know what you want to compete in agility Maybe that's your dream or you want to compete at a national championship Maybe that's your dream or you want to make it to your country's world team Start with a goal. You want the most amazing family pet that loves agility That you really don't have any out. That's that's a goal And so set that goal and then you need the systems That will help you achieve it and the record keeping that the celebrations help you move forward with that goal setting I love that. I love that and I also think one of the Like important main reasons to keep track of your training and like you do putting it on paper Is also so you can see like it's is my training working? Because otherwise you might be training something for a long time, but you had no idea about the progression And so also looking back and see like okay, but how much did we progress? Is my thing working? Do I need to change something? um So yeah, it's super super important super good points. Yeah And for me when I get a new puppy, I love going back to my last puppy's journal and saying what am I going to do differently? Because I always like to try and experiment Yeah, and what works amazing? Okay, I'm going to try something even different even though it was amazing What else can I try to make it even more amazing?
