그게 바로 'It's Your Choice' 훈련의 실패였죠. 이건 그냥 'It's Your Choice(너의 선택)' 훈련의 성공 사례였어요.
Look at the puppy back there. What's going on here? Do you see these two? Oh, there's the two kids. I have a question for you. Are you currently training for dog sports? How cuter. Guess what today is? Today is the Red Boy Day. Demos. Demos button. Today is Susan's hair is a bit of crazed. Okay. Do you or are you currently training for a dog sport? If the answer is yes, please tell me which one and please tell me where you're watching from. And if the answer is no, then is that something, is there a sport that you would like to train in the future? So service it, no service animal. Guess what, Janie? A lot of the dog sport skills are just so good for training service dogs. So today's going to be a good day. Protection sports in Utah. Crystal, hello. Just dropped a cookie on the floor. The puppy did not get up to get it. That's a win because today we had an epic It's Your Choice fail. Yes, I will share with you. This is what happened for the first time ever. Kim was setting up to cut his nails. Pedicure, please. He's just hanging out on his bed. She had his breakfast there and she forgot something. Probably her coffee. Kim got up, went to the kitchen, came back, and Mr. was helping himself to his breakfast. That was an It's Your Choice fail. This was just an It's Your Choice win. So bite work in France. Watching from Toronto. We are probably lovers. Why don't we know each other? We are about 45 minutes from Toronto. Plus Toronto has the Raptors, which I'm addicted to, even though they're not like having a great year this year. Still a loyal fan. My dog is too nervous for dog sports. I had hoped of doing fly ball. We do freestyle in Lincoln, UK. I see. I just assumed it was Nebraska. We got a lot of people from the UK here. New rescue. From Canton, Georgia. Welcome, Darlene. Do you think any dog can be trained for service work? That's a great question. I think that it depends on what the service work is for. And I think like, would Tater be a good service dog? He might be, but he also would be a lot of work compared to training. I don't have a dog that would be a good service dog. I mean, for what I might need them for, yes, they'd be great. Sometimes my back goes out, so my dogs are trained to support my weight as I push up. And they can pick things up and give them to me. But depending on what you need them for, depending on the breed, some breeds of dogs and some dogs within a breed are just not that very stable. I'm sorry. I tried, but I can't, there's nothing. Here's the thing. My hair might have a mind of its own, but I have got great information for you for dog training. So it's all good.

온 소(Own saw)님. 온 소(Own saw)님. 온 소 패런(Own saw Farron)님.
Not training for a sport, but it would be fun to play agility. So today I'm going to be focusing on a skill that will go across all barriers of sport and beyond. Service dog, oh, heck yes. Today's skill, big, big, big for that. I will be focusing on the sport of dog agility. But, and if you have any questions, how, what I'm going to, I'm going to teach. Well, how will that help me with pet as just a pet owner? How will that help me in bite work? How will that help me in my service dog work? You ask me because I know what I'm teaching you today is going to go across all barriers. Okay. So we have a lot of people that have different sports, which I love, love, love. Oh my gosh. You win a prize. Somebody acknowledging that my crazy ass hair that's going wherever it wants is awesome. Come on, contact the team. This one's a little wrinkled. I'll make sure you get one that's not wrinkled. Sometimes a puppy likes to chew on these. I'm sending you a sticker. Own saw. Own saw. I don't know how to say your name. Own saw Farron. But thank you. You're very kind. We're all about kindness here. So today is the nuances of training sports. I'm sorry that I keep hitting this. I have a chair that doesn't quite fit with this. But I do have a lovely coffee. So we're all good to go. It's about that. You know, this, this is our fourth anniversary of Shaped by Dog. It's Shaped by Dog, Live and Unfiltered, AKA Unscripted. I personally think unfiltered would have been better, but then that wasn't anything special because I'm always unfiltered. So today is all about sports. And then you could say dog agility, dog sports and beyond. Before we start, I'm going to ask you to share. When you share what we're doing here, share it on your social media platforms. Come on back here. Leave us a comment that said, I shared it. Tell us where. And if you have a different name that you're, that you appear in the comments on, then just tell us what your name is because we're giving away prizes today, my friend. We're giving away some amazing, super cool prizes. So let us know where you shared it. And there's going to be a prize given away at the end of today. And I'm also going to, to tell you who won from yesterday because we gave away some cool prizes yesterday. So today is all about what opening, opening yourself up. Like I read a comment and I don't know your dog and I don't know the nuances of what your situation is, but I think the comments said something like my dog is too nervous for sports. So that may be a limiting belief. That may be a hundred percent the truth, but that may also be a limited belief that I want

to open yourself up to the possibility that there may be something out there that is possible for you and your dog. How cute are they? If he decides to stay there, I'm going to get up and give him a cookie, but I'm prepared for if he decides not to, you get to see what happens when he makes a decision other than what I'd like him to see. Now he has a very good role model beside him saying, this is how you behave when we're on live. Let's just hope he keeps up with that. I think I'm just, I'm not going to wait for a mistake. I'm going to go up, get up and I'm going to reinforce both of them. Super good boy. Super good. Oh, we've got a pen there. Thank you. Super good kit. So today I didn't ask you who should be my demo dog because the only one who wasn't a demo dog yet was the puppy and it's sports day, which I think, thank you. I love my mug. I love purple. So today I want you to open yourself up to possibilities. I want you to release fears, things that possibly you believed in the past that they don't have to come with you moving forward. Because I know if you give yourself permission to let go of excuses, that there will be things that today I will show you that will give you a new, a new lens, a new vision into what is possible. Now I have to reinforce that really good choice too. This is getting a dog to relax and not feel that they have to be busy and be on all the time, especially he's an eight and a half month old puppy. So I want him to know it's not, life isn't all about what's going to be entertaining for you. Okay. So what I'm going to be sharing with you today is a simple skill that I focus on incredibly hard with my dogs. All of my dogs, I can't think of a dog that didn't have the skill brilliantly. It's such an important skill to all of my dogs' successes, both as a family pet and as a world champion of dog agility. Yet, I would say if you looked at all of the handlers at a weekend of agility, I would be willing to bet maybe 10% would have this skill decent, decent. And at the highest level, at the world champion, the people getting on the podiums at the world championship, I would bet even not all of them, although a lot more of them will have it, but not all of them will have it, will care that much about it. So I'm going to let you know that it's, to me, it's a skill that sets dog owners up for success. It sets dogs up for success, but it's just, it's a nuance. It's a nuance of how I train the sport of dog agility. It's a nuance of how I train the sport of obedience, which I don't compete anymore, but I absolutely love, love, love.

For My Merles의 훌륭한 분들이 만드셨습니다.
Um, so after today, you're going to know, not only you're going to have a new appreciation for this skill, you're going to be given the steps on how you can train this skill. And you're going to see how it fits into whatever it is that you want to do with your dog, whether it be a sport, whether it be, um, whether it be service dog, whether it be just being an awesome, amazing family pet, you are going to see how this works, how this works for you. All right. And tomorrow we're coming back, we're doing our fourth because it's our fourth anniversary of Shaped by Dog. Tomorrow we're doing the fourth. You're going to see how all this comes together. Plus we're going to be opening up all of our classrooms where all the nuances of what I've been teaching this week will be put under a magnifying glass and we blow it up for you over the next year, or depending on how long you decide to join with. So can anyone guess what the skill is that I'm going to teach before I move forward? Can anyone guess what the skill is that I've been talking about today? Kelly, thank you. While you're thinking of what that skill is, I'm going to give away some prizes. So yesterday we had our share, we did two share winners. And so yesterday's share winner, the second share winner goes to Mel Lynn. Mel is going to receive the firecracker. Look at that naughty pants. Swagger is not going to put up with that for too long. He will be told how to butter his bread if he keeps trying to annoy Swagger like that. You guys get to see a movie within a movie. You're listening to me and you get to be entertained by those two. Okay. So congratulations to Mel being yesterday's winner. Today for sharing. This is a really cool prize. So this is a brand new toy. Never been invented before. From the great people at For My Merles. Look at it. It's beautiful. It's got a tug leash on it. Such a cool thing. But look at it. The game within a game is... There's a squeaker inside. How cute you say. They officially call it a tearaway. I think they should call it a kinder toy. We're still up for debate on that. Maybe you guys can have a better name for it. And why they want to call it a tearaway is... If the dog gets this fabric broken down... Yes, they get the squeaker. But guess what else is inside? There's another tug toy. There's a tug toy just like that. That is built inside of the tearaway. AKA kinder toy. Right? Isn't that a great idea for a toy? Because if your dog wrecks it, you still have a great toy. Inventive creative people from For My Merles. So we're going to give away that... One of those at the end of today for the share winner.

Shaped by Dog.
Whoever we do the random draw. Whoever shares this podcast or this live and unfiltered. It's unscripted, Susan. Stop saying that. Live and unscripted. Shaped by dog. We're going to take one random winner today. And we're going to give away one tomorrow. All right? So just share. Come back. Write in the comments. Say you shared. Now, yesterday... Yesterday, we built on our day one's lessons. Day one was about location-specific... Oh, I thought he was going to get off. What a good boy. Location-specific reinforcement markers. That was day one. So we talked about cook. And we talked about search. And I talked about how we bring that into teaching a paw target. And then yesterday on day two, it was the nuances of how to cue. How to use your cue. How to grow and put a cue on your paw target. And how to grow it to very different environments and objects. So that was where we got up to. Now, today is, again, another level to that. But here are... We're giving away a... We're going to give away a prize, which is a Propel. One of those Propels. I'm going to show you how you can use a Propel right now. So a Propel is a great toy for... A great toy. Very great. Very great. Very great. Very great. Propel is a really cool fitness, piece of fitness equipment. So you can use it just to practice your paws up. Thank you. Paws up. Good. So you can have the dog walk around the Propel. You can have a dog get all more feet up in the towel. You can use it. This is a little balancing because it is inflated. So will they keep their paws there? There's some balance. So our friends and family and friends of the show, Blue Nine, they make the Propels. Probably my most favorite piece of fitness equipment. One of them for sure. Do you notice that when I come back here, I lost my Border Collie. Mom, do you want to help it out? Thank you. Swag. I'm going to turn the camera on so you can see what's going on here. Okay. So I'm trying to get... I'm trying to get Swagger. When I have to do my demo, he has to go behind the... That's what he likes to stand behind the tunnel. Okay. Monkey, have it up. Betty. There we go. All right. So yesterday I said I was going to give away the Propel because I love the Propel. So I said, I'm going to give one away. We got so many gems. So I'm going to... Where's my stickers? So I'm going to have to give away more prizes, but I'm going to read... I'm going to read these three gems and you tell me if you can pick which one of these touches you the most. Okay. The first one is from Janet Lefley. My gem is that I should never give up. So many times I tell myself I'm a bad trainer and that's why my dog has bad behaviors. But Susan talks...

But Susan's talk about breaking down those walls is that I have to break down my own lack of belief in myself in order to connect with my dog and help him to learn. You're never going to reach your dog because you're going to be limited by the belief that you're not the person who could do that. I know you can do that. I've had tens of thousands of students come through this program. We have got the most amazing coaches that help me make sure that people who come ready to learn absolutely will grow. And so I love that you recognize that, Janet, because this is a gateway to your success. And I love this gem because I bet there are people, even people on watching today that feel the same way. That I'm bad. I can't do this. I'm too slow. I'm too heavy. I'm my dog's too... That... Yeah, this is just a great gem. Okay. Second gem. This is from Katerina Offman. So gem number one's great. I want you to pick your favorite. One, two, or three. Get wrapped up in the beauty of the uptake and the learning that is happening for the dog. Don't focus on the end outcome, but be curious in the moment. Always think, where's the value for my dog now? So that was something I really talked a lot about yesterday is that it doesn't matter if it's a dog sport or if it's a trick. So often people get wrapped up on finishing. I need to finish the sequence before my dog is right. I need to... Rather than saying, look at the skill my dog is showing me right now compared to what that skill was yesterday. And you don't need to get to the end of a sequence. You just need to reinforce the dog for the work that they're doing. So I love, love, love that you really highlighted that moment when I spoke about getting wrapped up in the beauty of the uptake of the knowledge for the dog. That was gem number two. This is gem number three. This is from Robin Lambert. And this one I think is a very deep and insightful gem. I went, wow, Robin, spot on. So Robin said, it's my observation in teaching from Susan with reinforcement from the Dogs That Team that there are generally multiple antecedents when training a behavior. First and foremost is building the relationship, the desire to engage with you, which is reinforced through the cue nuances and the use of positive reinforcements always as that sequence, the reinforcement process. It's so circular that ABC builds ABC, which builds ABC. So I know that's really deep. But when I talked about it yesterday, I said, what's the antecedent for my dog putting their paws on there? Well, it's me standing in front of the target, but that wasn't it.

It was the history of when I come out, there's a positive conditioned emotional response to me walking out there that my dogs just look at me. They don't look at anything else. I could have cookies on the ground. I could have toys on the ground. They look at me because, and then that focus is the antecedent to them offering behavior. So those are three, three beautiful, beautiful gems. So I'd like you guys in the comments to tell me which one of those gems do you think was really impactful for you? Which one of those gems do you think we should award the number one first place prize? So we have number one. We have number two. Two votes for number one. We have a number three. There aren't they? They're brilliant, right? I mean, there was probably another five more that I'm like, oh man, I got to narrow this down. You guys really? What I love about it is in your gems, you captured the essence of what I was teaching. And I absolutely love that. And because of that, I spoke to the people at Blue Nine and guess what? Everybody gets a propel. All three of you are first place winners. The podium is full. All three of the podium winners are standing on first place. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. So thank you. Thank you. That was amazing. Okay. So the takeaways are important and I'm so excited because today is about dog sports, but it's also really going back to general dog training. And so I'm just going to put this out there. I had this idea, which I thought was a brilliant idea. There were a couple of key things that I use in my training for, can you grab one of the treat and trains, please? There's a couple of key things that I use in my training that I thought, oh, wouldn't it be cool to give this away? And so I went to, um, actually, do you see in the back Gallican? All of the agility equipment that I use is from what I feel is the best agility equipment supplier on the planet. They're made in Spain and it's Gallican agility equipment. So I went to actually the North American distributor of Gallican is Run It Dog Agility. I said, Hey Gallican and Run It Dog Agility, would you guys like to get together and provide a prize? So what they're giving us to give away tomorrow for the gym is a two part prize. Number one is a target mat. So it's a target mat that has straps that you can attach to something. If you want, you can use it just on the ground, just like we did for the towel. If you just want to train your family pet, you just want to train, or you want to train a sports dog. It goes, it can attach to actually a dog walk if you're training dog sports.

음, '당신의 선택(It's Your Choice)'이라는 추측도 아주 좋네요.
And then if you have a treat and train, if you don't have a treat and train, you should. I think I have five of them and I have three other remote feeders. So I have a little bit about the remote feeders. So this is one of my, um, bags. So the treat and train goes in a bag and it makes it easy to carry. I can throw the remote in there so I don't lose the remote. I can cover it up and it, uh, helps to, let's say if there's ever like vermin in the building, it helps to deter them from getting into my treat and trains. So the great people at, at run it agility and at, um, Galligan are teaming up for tomorrow's gem is going to be both a target mat. Um, and it's a target mat that was designed by Katerina Popolek. I can't really say your name, Katerina, please. I know you're a lovely soul. Don't be offended by that. Um, she owns a fantastic dog agility. So it's her designed, uh, travel mat, which I got to tell you, I use mine upside down a lot. So you can get, I've got a blue one and a yellow one, but I put it upside down on the turf and then the black becomes my target as well. We have a problem here. That's what I thought you said. Yeah. Okay. So that's for tomorrow. I'm super excited. And, um, yeah, we are going to, um, move forward with that. But for today, did anyone guess the skill that I'm teaching today? Anyone guess? I didn't see any guesses in the comments, but I did change the subject. That was kind of all over the place. Let me get rid of the, uh, there we go. Anybody guess what I'm going to be talking about today? Um, that is a great guess. Um, a great guess is it's your choice. I saw that. Great guess. It's a great guess, but that's not it, but it is always in play in everything that we do. Calmness or focus. That's a great guess. Sit, stay. That's kind of the game within the game that we're the value for. I really should just change where I'm sitting so you guys can see the main attraction. I'm not kidding me. I'm not kidding myself. I got, they're the main attraction. Red dogs rule. So if you think about all dog sports, it doesn't matter what they are. It's a dance. When I was in university, I dated a ballroom dancer. And when we would go out parties, weddings, I looked like I was pretty with it on the dance floor. But you know what? It was only because he was pretty amazing dancer. And so when you're doing any dog sport, the dog is the partner in the dance. And the dog is a partner in the dance. And you need to be the confident ballroom dancer. You need to be the one that is leading the dog around whatever.

It doesn't matter what the sport is, whether it be disc dog or it is a dog agility or it's bite sports or it's obedience. And so when you have the one partner confidently executing, it looks beautiful. It looks beautiful and effortless. The dog can be ahead. The dog can be behind. There always seems to be this ebb and flow together. And for me, that originates with one skill. So I'm going to show you right now. I'm going to get a profit out and I'm going to show you. You just have to give me a thumbs up if you can still hear me when I get out there with him. So I'm going to change my camera. Right. I'm going to get out there and I'm just going to do. Okay, here we go. I will borrow somebody's toy. That's going to be one tomorrow. Profit. Okay. So if I am doing. Just having my dog fun. Fun. Sorry. So if I just want my dog to run. Can I even excel? I can strengthen it as fast as they can. Perfect. So see how he was going so fast? He ran right by me. I'll do that again. I'm sorry. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay. So we've got celebrating in a straight line. But if I turn, I don't want him to. Okay. Okay. Okay. So we've got celebrating in a straight line. But if I turn, I don't want him to. I don't want him to think I'm a sheep and go way out there. I want him to turn. So I'll hold him back a little bit. So I'm doing my dog sports. I need my partner to read my body language and turn with me. I'm thinking. I'm thinking. Good. Good. You can see the game within the game. He's not going to be a puppy. He's not going to be perfect. See how he's kind of front approach stuff. I don't like that. I'm going to do a ball. That's. Thank you. All right. So I'm going to run like I was running. But if I turn, I need to turn. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

why is that because when we play we play from the front when we give them their their dinner dish we put it down in front of us when we're sitting on the couch and they come up for some loving we love them up in front of us when they greet us when we come in for the door it's so the reinforcement zone is something that the dog learns it's very reinforcing to be here and if your reinforcement zone is in front guess what happens when you play dog sports and you try to do what i just did you try to do what you think about it's a good thing about it's a good thing about it's a good thing i i cannot outrun any of my dogs i remember when my dog buzzy my border collie buzzy he was almost 18 years old we were going for a walk around the field and i said to him we were there was a there's a hill in the back of our field and i said buzzy finally i'm going to beat you and i took off running up the hill he still beat me at almost 18 years old i cannot run my dogs therefore i need them to have a a fundamental understanding of this is where everything starts if it's if i i've never done this with him but if i and he may not do this but most of my dogs by this point in their life i did have serious thoughts of doing obedience and i and i really haven't done it because i just have too many other things to do but if i want to receive key tell me where reinforcements only is right now so this is the sticky water falling puppy so good comes so even though i've never done it yeah yeah and put it down like that you're supposed to know what's your choice mister where should you be okay thank you so if i put a cookie out there he should say oh yeah i got i remember this where it should be super boy he just tripped over the he just tripped over the um one good man good man okay where's the waggy cam um i be guessing he's behind the yellow tunnel somewhere monk can you guys see him waiting for more action okay okay so it's reinforcement zone now what we need is how do you get what i've got because when you get what i've got that's what leads to those tight turns that's what leads to the dog being able to i'll cut him some slack because he was grabbing his toy that if i wanted to do a serpentine he would understand so let me show you the difference let's do one of these right now this will be my last demo because i really want to get to well the last demo of this agility okay interact interact interact interact interact interact interact interact interact interact interact interact I think she'll pick it up. Shear, she'll heal a fight.

Oh, it's all good. Yeah. Here. Betty, thank you. So, if I run and say this cue, he's going to explore over this challenge. I'm going to do it in a way that you guys can see. Hold on this one. Jump. Okay. I'm going to go once the other one. What's going to happen this time? Bye. Oh, that's wonderful. Okay. That is not how agility don't get released from their position. Lock down. Good. He's focusing on the toy. He wants the toy. He said, right, go, and... And... ... ... ... Yay! Good boy, but there's no collision. That was an intense puppy. He was ready to go out and charge to get his toy. My... But he didn't. He didn't charge to get his toy because of his understanding of reinforcement zone. Because of his understanding of what gets built on reinforcement zone. Okay? So... His release is his jump cue, Tina. So, let's see. Where do we get that from? How are you going to grow on what I taught you on day one and day two? Number two, Shaped by Dog, live and what am I? Live and unfiltered? No, I forget what I am now. Live and unscripted. Lesson one and lesson two comes to lesson three today. So, how do we get that? We take our foot target and we put it on. It can be anything. It can be a square. It can be a garden tile stone. I'm going to use... This is from the feed store. It's just a feed bowl. I think it's for sheep and goats. All right? So, this is what we're going to do. And we're just going to teach our dog to find value in being by our side. Okay? Okay, so, Linda, you tell me if that's a good spot. Okay, Betty, bring me. Can you bring me the toy? That was a pretty great baby. Yeah. That's a good point. So, we have dogs that they know that they're going to put their paws up on something. So, then what we want them to do is find value for me beside us by touching our hip. And if I move it this way, then I just want you to find my hip. That's what I want. All right? So, we just want to build that. If I move a little bit into them. If I move a little bit into them. Okay. That's what I'm trying to find my hip. Coach, can you tell them why I can tap her in there? Okay. The nuance. This is another nuance of this training. If I feed like this, what's my dog getting value for? Getting value for the front of me. Do I want my dog to have value for the front of me? Life gives them enough reason to have value for the front of me.

I want him in the training with me to constantly be thinking about reinforcement comes here. Can I drop the cookie there? Okay. So, you're just going to do this very slowly. And go a couple of steps one way. A couple of steps another way. That's right. Yay! That's it! That's it! Up a top. Okay. I have to keep changing back and forth between the cameras. Okay. If you have a short dog. If you have a short dog, guess what? Okay. If you have a short dog. Okay. If you have a short dog. Guess what? Okay. If you have a short dog. Guess what? If you have a short dog. I think of when I had, my shortest dog that I owned was my nine inch Jack Russell Terrier. My lightest dog was my 11 inch Jack Russell Terrier. But guess what? When I left a trial, I could take my dog, my training bag, my crate, my purse, and everything under one arm and leave the trial. This is now your punishment for having that convenience. You, my friend need to bend down. And the nice thing is I, but when you do this, you still touch your hip first because the hip helps the dog know this is the place of focus. Don't focus on my bait bag. Don't focus on my pocket. Focus on my hip. The hip is where the, the, I want the association with. Right? So if you're a person that has a wee dog, then you don't want to, you want to always feed with a hand closest to the dog. Let's say my dog is here. So you're going to have to get really good at the squat. Maybe go to the gym, talk to your coach a little bit. So it might be touch your hip, feed your dog. Now they don't come much shorter than this, right? I'm 62 years old, almost 63. If I can get down here to do some little feeding with my little dog. And I think all of you should be able to do that too. Okay. Okay. Yes. And there's a here game within a game. Get yourself a tone booty at the same time. I like the way you think crystal. Um, okay. My dog resource guards. Therefore I had targets. Therefore I had to stop training with targets or Anna. You could focus your training just on resource guarding and podcast episode 66. It is a case study where I explain exactly how I work through that with this. I am not saying your dog's level and intensity of resource guarding is the same as what mine is, but I'm saying I wouldn't give up until I exhausted all of the good dog training resources, including of an area and behaviorists that would help me counter condition the resource guarding. I'm five foot three. No, no bending needed. I'm actually five foot two. So I do have an advantage. You are sure. Correct there. Okay. So we want to make sure that that's a skill reinforcement zone. So many people they're like, oh yeah, yeah.

I got it in puppy class, but in puppy class, what did you do? You put a cookie in your hand and you lured your dog there. When the lure is not there, what happens? When the lure is not there or when the food's out in front, what happens? What happens if you take something the dog really, really loves and you put it out in front and you tell the dog, I need you to come into reinforcement zone. Will they do it? So it would be me if I do this. I did break. So if I put that in front. Side. Side. Side. Oh boy. Oh boy. Right. Search. Right. Search. I think you got it. Good boy. Side. You making sure that this is going anywhere? Search. You bet. You have it up. Good boy. So that's if there's value for you, then this was just a bowl of cookies, right? That could be a tunnel on agility. That could be a seesaw or something. He's crazy about the seesaw. I've done it again. Did you see even when I said the word seesaw? Yeah. I haven't done much seesaw training. Didn't take much for, I think, momentum. Explain to him that you're supposed to be crazy when you do a seesaw. Okay. So Chris writes, the value of reinforcement zone helps my dog run fast cat at top speed. It really applies to all sports. Absolutely does. All sports. Okay. So this is a great question, Pauline. Reinforcing recalls is so important. So giving reinforcement in front on a recall, sitting in front of me, is that a problem for the value of reinforcement zone? Pauline, why do you think you need to reinforce in front of you? Because if you do competition obedience, like I used to, you get scored very, very sharply as my late husband, who was a long time competition obedience judge, would say. The precision of that front behavior shouldn't be left up to chance. So I'm never going to let my obedience prospect come into front without knowing it's going to be perfect. So then I'll just reinforce them out there and teach front as an isolated incident. Okay. It has nothing to, your recall has nothing to do with where the dog ends up. My dogs end up on my side when I do my recall because I want reinforcement for value for reinforcement. Okay. Yes. Value for reinforcement is important to Candy Cross for my dog to go quickly from pulling me to running by my side. Brilliant cat. That's a brilliant observation because even those sports like Candy Cross, where your dog is out in front, you need to have that kind of, the value for being out in front will be high for those dogs. I need value back here to be equally as high. So I think you guys are seeing this, this behavior helps a family pay. A family pet walking on a loose leash on and off leash. Ding, ding, ding. All right.

Swagger's like, when is the show going to start again? What is up? What is up with this talking? We need another show. What a coop. Okay. So you've got now those pieces. Tomorrow, I'm going to show you where it all goes together, how we can get that. But what I wanted you to see today is what's possible. What is the one piece that builds brilliant behavior in dog sports, but also is such a lifesaver for all pets and all of life. It's a, it's a there. I can't, I mean, there's maybe a sport that reinforcement zone isn't important, but I got to tell you, I did go to ground. I don't know what they call it. They have a different name now. They do AKC. Where the dogs go under the ground hunting. You know, it's a, it's a tunnel. And at the end of the tunnel is some rats. And so I did go to ground with my terriers. Guess what I did the thing before the thing. When most terrier people I'm talking back. When does my, the last time I did go to ground was 1993. So is that 30 years ago? Wow. That's crazy. Cause I'm only 33 now. I don't know how that worked out anyway. So they're yes. Okay. Most people with their terriers going to the hole where the rats are, the terrier knows the rats are there. They're going like this with their terriers. They seal off the leash and then the terriers go boom down the hole. Do you know what? Do you know how I went to the hole? I said value for reinforcement zone. Thing before the thing. You give me beautiful healing up to the line. You get to get have those rats. You don't give me beautiful healing. We're going to turn around and go to the back of the line until you give me beautiful healing. Guess what? The, the last time I went to a Jack Russell Terrier national championship, my terrier won the national go to ground championship. Also won the obedience championship at the same event. So that's not a coincidence. That was 30 years ago, my friends. Okay. Um, questions here. Uh, where would you use cook when practicing agility? I use it for example, places where I want my dog to stop, like on the seesaw. Oops. I said that word again. I am not even going to use that as his cue because he's already addicted to the word. So places where I want my dog to stop is where I would, but mostly I use cook for training the foundations like reinf... Mr. You were doing something, please. Thank you. Um, what skills do we need to start agility? Here's my foundation. The things that make my dog a great family pet are what's going to make my dog an amazing agility dog. Exactly the same things. So it's play with what I say. If I'm playing with a tug and I grab some cookies and say, here, eat some cookies.

And I grab a tug and I say, play with this tug. No, play with this tug. Play with this tug. I've got that flexibility. Does that mean all dogs have to do that? No. I know it will be easier for some dogs than others, but it's all of the foundation, the retrieve. I need you to give me a great retrieve reinforcement zone. I need you to have... If I put something in front of you and I say, lock, I want you to look at it. So there's all of those skills are all in handling 360, by the way, our online course, which by the way, will be available tomorrow. But for so many people, it seems like that is not a possibility, right? And that's why in every workshop today or this week, I've talked about unlocking what is holding you back. Unlocking what has you believe my dog couldn't turn like that. No, because my dog is this and that and this and that. Or I'm this and that and this and that. It isn't possible. She's been doing this for 30 years. It's not possible for me. Here's the truth. My experience will give me an advantage getting on a world team over many of you watching this. But you have a lot of advantages over me. Mainly if you can run fast and you're young and your brain works really fast. That's an advantage you have. So the advantages are not that you can't train what I've trained. Because I have too many students who have trained what I've trained. And I want to share, is that all right if I share with you a video? I don't, I don't, it's a, it's a two and a half minute video. So if it's too much, just say so. But it's a video that I, I think it's inspirational and aspirational. Like, because it's a video of one of our students who had never, ever seen agility before. And she has a, she had a rescue beagle. A rescue beagle that had reactivity problems. And she was in re, recallers and she'd never heard of agility, but she thought maybe this will help with the reactivity. And the woman had never seen it, anything to do with agility. She did all of her training in her own backyard. I think she actually built a lot of her own equipment as well. Come to think of it. Okay. There's a lot of you that said yes. So thank you. And I'm going to show you this video. Do, do, do, do. I can find this. Here we go. Shelly and her beagle rescue Levi. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. That's such a great story. Such an awesome team. Anyway, thank you for letting me share that. I love that story. I love that team. Okay. There was a question, Linda, you said you saw a great question. What specific program do we recommend during the stage of training a young dog? All of what he's got right now, he has got all of our Recaller games. So, probably by the time he was five and a half months, he had all of those games down pat. And then the foundation in Handling 360, he's got prep school, he's got flat work, and he's got... There's some things I've left out of Blueprint, but he's got a lot of those. So, definitely the place that I start is Recallers with all of my dogs. And that's been the way I've raised my dogs since 1994, 95, in that era. So, close to 30 years, that's how I've been raising. And at the end of the day, I love agility. I love dog agility. And I used to love dog obedience. I'm one of those rare people that absolutely, absolutely did love dog obedience. And there are a lot of other dog sports that I love. I've done some scent work with all of my dogs and I just don't have time for it all. But the most of the time, I'm a family pet owner. And I want a dog that will work and live in my life as a family pet. So, yes, I move on to train more complex skills, but everything starts with... Yes, Jose. It starts with Crate Games, which is part of Recallers. And it's all of those games that creates a positive, conditional emotional response for the game we're playing. They love to play that game. It creates a positive, conditioned emotional response for me, for being part of my life, for being part of working with me. And it creates a positive, conditioned, a positive, conditioned emotional response for like him staying on a bed as an eight and a half month old puppy. I mean, he's made a couple mistakes today, but whatever it is that we're training, Crate Games, Hot Zone, the Seesaw that we did some work with, like all of that he's excited about. And that's what you get. And let me just tell you, I have yet to own a dog that I've been able to train without a challenge. Without a...

There's a little off ramp where I focus on resource guarding. That's one of his challenges right now that we're working on. Resource guarding. Oh, there's a little off ramp with this. Thisie, many of you were part of Team This, and there were a lot of different off ramps for thisie, but here she is three years old. We're getting ready to go to the Canadian World Team tryouts. So, yeah, there's off ramps, but you just stay focused on the beauty of the movement that you're working on. How many hours a day? How many hours does your day have? I work from home and do a lot daily quickies, but I feel like we're just moving slowly. You've got to be okay with that, Kirsten. And like my day has as many hours and I actually have a, I mean, running a team and running my own business and having five dogs that I take time with. Yeah, I make time for training. That's important. I almost never watch TV unless the Toronto Raptors are playing and that's my life. Fitness and dogs. Those are my loves. Music. I'd have to squeeze in a concert now and again too. Best place for agility equipment, not too expensive for beginners. This is the cool thing, Pauline, is handling 360, you don't need any equipment to start. You need a couple of jumps and a tunnel. And you can, a lot of that you can buy on Facebook marketplace. So the first, the first two classrooms, I think all you need is a traffic cone and you can use a garbage can. So it really, we make it accessible for everybody. Okay. Today's share winner. The first time we've given away, did we decide we're going to call it the Tearaway? The Tearaway prize is going to Sue's Goal. That's Z-G-O-L. Sue's Goal. And yeah, there you go. You can make jumps from a dollar store. And please re-watch this live. And if you haven't watched the last two, please go back. And when you re-watch it, re-watch it with a pen and a pause. Pause, take notes, pen. And I'd like you to think about the gems that you absorbed from today's. Go over to our Facebook page where you'll see a gem post and write the gems, the takeaways, the aha, the wow, I didn't think that was possible. The, oh my gosh, I'm really inspired that I can do this with my dog. I want you to write those gems on that page. Or if you're watching this on YouTube, hello YouTube. Then wait until this live is finished. When we're finished, the video will appear. YouTube does its wizardry and it appears. And then I'd like you to like, give us a thumbs up because a thumbs up helps the world recognize that we actually are good at what we do. And then leave the gem there. Or just say, hey, Susan. Or just say, swagger, Mr. Monk.

정말 큰 감사를 저희 팀, 그리고 스폰서인 Blue9, For My Murals, Gallican, 그리고 Run It Agility에게 보냅니다.
