Hello, my name is Ed Frawley. I've got a good question and answer here that anybody that has ever bought a puppy has been through at least part of this question. So here's the deal. This person is about to go to pick up their puppy and they live four hours away and they want to know, I'll read it, they want to know how to handle the trip home. And it's a good question because we've done it so many times. We have a protocol on how we do this and it works and it's based on experience. It says, I pick my puppy up next weekend. I've had a couple of questions. It's about a four hour drive to get the dog. It will have its first immunizations if I stop on the way home to give it a bathroom break. Am I putting it at risk of contracting a disease if I stop at a rest area? Obviously other dogs would have done their business there too. And number two, the first couple of nights, should I have him sleep in a carrier or a box next to my bed or just let him tough it out in his crate in the living room? Good questions. Everybody that gets a puppy has to work their way through this thing. And if you just give it a little bit of thought, here's what we do. When we go to pick up a puppy and when this thing came in, this question came in a little over a year ago and I've saved it. But Cindy had just got back from, what did she say? Yeah, driving 19 hours to go and get a puppy. We don't ship our puppies. We go get them and we bring them home. We never stop at a rest area and let our puppies go to the bathroom at a rest area. That solves the issue of having other dogs around, having other people around. Oh, isn't your puppy so cute? Do you mind if I pet it? Hell yes, I mind if you pet it. Stay the hell away from my puppy. Sorry, that's just me. I try and be nice. I don't say it like that. I have to learn to say it like that. But anyway, what we do is we look for a place that doesn't have a lot of activity. I mean, if we can find an office building in a calm neighborhood, a calm area. If we can find a nice hotel that has nice green grass and whatever, we take our puppy out there. And if it does anything, we always pick the poop up. We have poop bags. We throw it in the garbage. We don't let anything stay there. We don't let people come up and pet our dog. I don't want to have a conversation with somebody about my puppy when I'm out with my puppy. I want to focus on my puppy, keep my eyes on the puppy. I don't want it eating anything. Little puppies can pick up a rock and eat it. We don't know. Not all of them, but a lot of them can. And then you got a problem. So that's just what we do.

And when we get them home, our puppies will stay in a crate next to the bed at night. So if they wake up in the middle of the night, they're going to cry. Puppies go to the bathroom after they eat, sleep, and have exercise. So after it's slept for a few hours, if a puppy wakes up and it wants to go out at 2 or 3 in the morning, c'est la vie, welcome to the world of dog training. We get up and take them outside. I haven't for the last 12. And at times I had 10 litters a year. I had a professional breeding facility. And I bred German shepherds. So I've worked through helping lots and lots and lots of people that came and got puppies from me. Take advantage of the mistakes that I made. Take advantage of the mistakes that Cindy's made.
